1946 Hollywood Canine Canteen

I had almost forgot about this great Warner Brothers cartoon until I came across it on You Tube. Sadly, because of copyright laws, they can only show the first and last of the cartoon-about 3 minutes. It features anthro dog versions of Hollywood actors and musicians of the time. Warner Brothers was so great at these caricatures~ A short version of the cartoon but still worth the watch!

The New Zoo Revue

Hi Guys! If you were a kid in the 1970s , then chances are pretty good that at one time or another, you stumbled across The New Zoo Revue !  This was a children's program that aired on public television from 1972 to 1977 .  The point of this show was to educate kids on values and how to handle life's little problems , like shyness or feeling down .  Each half-hour episode (and there were almost 200 of them) starred three oversize anthro characters and their human handlers, um, I mean friends .  There was Charlie , the know-it-all owl; Henrietta Hippo , the girly Southern belle; and Freddie , the insecure washout frog!  Doug was the hip dude who tried to sort out all the issues and Emmy Jo was his groovy female counterpart .  Through singing , dancing , and rap sessions , they always managed to put everything right ! You can still find New Zoo Revue episodes on DVD and apparently the show is still aired on some TV stations out there.  In its heyday, however, y

An Early Breakfast

Image
Rikki-tikki smashed two eggs, and tumbled backward down the melon-bed with the third egg in his mouth, and scuttled to the verandah as hard as he could put foot to the ground. Teddy and his mother and father were there at early breakfast; but Rikki-tikki saw that they were not eating anything. They sat stone-still, and their faces were white. Nagaina was coiled up on the matting by Teddy's chair, within easy striking distance of Teddy's bare leg, and she was swaying to and fro singing a song of triumph. 'Son of the big man that killed Nag,' she hissed, 'stay still. I am not ready yet. Wait a little. Keep very still, all you three. If you move I strike, and if you do not move I strike. Oh, foolish people, who killed my Nag!' Teddy's eyes were fixed on his father, and all his father could do was to whisper, 'Sit still, Teddy. You mustn't move. Teddy, keep still.'Then Rikki-tikki came up and cried: 'Turn round, Nagaina; turn and fight!' &#

Looney Tunes Lobo!

Image
OK, guys, some background.  Lobo is an intergalactic bounty hunter of no morals at all but with one ethic, he keeps his word no matter what.  Extremely quirky and inventive, DC overexposed him and the series went under, although he still gets the occasional special and guest appearances.  This issue is a take on the roadrunner and coyote thing.  Oh, and Lobo killed his entire home planet just for fun so it is best to stay as far away from him as possible. I left out a page 'cause it bored me. Wile E. finds Lobo and they make a deal. But killing the RoadRunner is not as easy as it sounds. Oops!  Wile E. seems to have joined up with someone who is not Warner Brothers! Bonus! Lobo's tough, he's been killed many times but he always comes back.  But- No one kills Bugs. No one.

No,not the movie about the creepy doll but a 1890's foxy lady. Her hair is swept up in a "Gibson Girl" style, named after their creator, Charles Dana Gibson. The ringlets hair style of the last few decades were going away as more fashionable ladies wore their hair in this style! In vintage sepia tone~ Ana a 1890's song fest with the art in progress~
