Dystopia

Image
Artwork for the American version of the TV series Utopia, artist João Paulo Alvares Ruas.  Dystopia is the name of part one of this sinister graphic novel. Detail from the photo above, Mister Rabbit.   This is a fictional comic but I am dying to see it.  I cannot find any examples that are not screenshots from the series.  The girl is Jessica Hyde, and that would be Mister Rabbit symbolically.   Mr. Rabbit, out to destroy all humankind, holding a doll representing Jessica Hyde.  At this stage of my watching I have no idea where this is going, but there ain't room enough on Earth for both of these two. Where the wild things are. That's Mister Bunny to you.

Red's Tales: Ramaga's Wrath PT4

PT4! Red has some flashbacks before awaking to find herself held captive by Ramaga and his empath allies. She's definitely not having a good day. But fear not, she may be in a bad spot but she's not licked yet!

Anthro Gone Wrong!

Image
Hi Guys! If you're readin' this, then I know you dig anthro and furry as much as I do!  But hey, sometimes even the best stuff can go south!   Mixing together human and animal has always been an art form and well, let's face it , not everybody is an artist !   To prove it , here are some stinkers right out of Doctor Moreau :   So this is an advertising card for " Mule Ear " chewing tobacco.  It was made around 1880 or so.  I ain't gonna show you the " Topsy " ad on the other side, because this is bad enough !  I never quite understood ads for animal products that featured the animal in question touting them.  I know what you're thinking -- this is tobacco , not mule-meat !  OK, fine , but that doesn't excuse the big wad of... whatever this mule is about to jam into his pie-hole !  Whether it's made of mule ears or just plain tobacco , it's way gross !     " Rough on Rats " was one of the best-selling rat poi

The Barnyard Crowing School A Mother's Farewell Animals At Play R Is For Rabbit 3 Mice Peter Rabbit Adorable Otters Harrison Cady, 1877-1970.  Extremely prolific, he also painted fine art landscapes and worked for advertisers.  The name Peter Rabbit, although already used by Beatrix Potter, was the name Thornton Burgess used for the rabbit stories he told his son, the boy would not let him use another name.  For a time Peter called himself Peter Cottontail, and then that name was never used again until a 1949 pop hit recorded by Gene Autry resurrected it.  Harrison Cady drew the Peter Rabbit strip for 28 years, then it was taken over by Vince Fago.  While Ms. Potter does not seem to have objected to the use of the Peter Rabbit name, she for damn sure was not going to let Disney have him, and it was only recently that Sony defiled that wonderful creation with one of your more genuinely brain dead adaptions of a book like, ever.  She should have sold Peter to Walt, whatever may happe

Fashion Fun

I think I have posted a few of these pictures before. I made them into a sparkly gif that shows a timeline of fashion from the early 1900's until the 1980's.

The Stoned Ape Theory

Image
https://youtu.be/heTPkUEr7DE Terence McKenna, courtesy of Sarah McDaniel and the Movie Mountain crew.  Mr. McKenna believed that ingesting hallucinogenic 'shrooms is what developed the modern human brain and consciousness.  This superior stop motion film is a riot.  I think him dead wrong, although the theory is unprovable it is clever and by no means impossible.  However, I maintain the rocks were what developed the human mindset, either by being hit with them or hitting others with them.  He does sound like he was a fun guy to hang with, and not the least because he probably had the best weed available.  Timothy Leary thought highly of him, huge surprise there.  I am all about anthro rabbits and this bangs the right side of the Funny Bunny meter! https://misterscribbles.blogspot.com/

Introducing ZAXCKEE

Image
Hi Guys! Today it's my pleasure to welcome a new artist to the Hybrid crew !  I'm talking about Zaxckee , who also goes by the Internet handles BiTronic and ColaRice !  He grew up in Singapore , but is originally of Filipino descent .  You probably know this already, but the Philippines have produced some of the greatest comic-book artists in the world !   Zaxckee has done some first-rate comic work himself, but right now we're gonna check out an awesome example of his poster design ! Firebird by Zaxckee (c) This is way cool and I could go on about it for a while -- but I think it might be better if the artist gives it to us in his own words .  Here's what Zaxckee says: "- The figure is an anthropomorphized version of the titular Firebird from the Russian folktale. Design-wise, I referenced the costume designs of Léon Bakst for the ballet when designing the general form, while style-wise and decorative ornaments were inspired by Oskar Kokoschka’s il

1920's Red Riding Hood-or How Could Red Riding Hood (Been So Very Good?)

Image
This is the first sketch of a trilogy of Red Riding Hood pictures I'm working on based on recordings. This one from the 1920's,one from the 1950's,and one from the 1960's. I decided to draw Red as an anthro fox girl, and she is much more mature than she was in the fairy tales! This suggestive song from the 1920's may seem tame by today's standards, but it was one of the first songs in history to be banned from the radio! I will post again when this is in color.

The Troubles and Trials of Wandering Bunny

Image
Hi Guys! I'm back with another searing tale by Dame Dingle !  You know, the lady who gave us The Cats' Party .  Judging from her stuff, nobody hated kids and wanted to make them cry more than her !        So this time we've got a story about a dumb bunny who decides to leave the warren in search of adventure !  He can't be happy where he's at , so he goes off to see the great world!   Well, like anything that's half-cocked , it doesn't work out so well .  Read on and you'll see what I mean ! Hey, I don't mean to interrupt your reading pleasure , but check out that farmer's face !  Is that inbreeding or what??  And it looks like he eats his rabbits raw !  OK, let's get back to it ! Whoa!   That's a tough ending -- We don't even have the moral to set us straight !  But hey, the moral should be obvious :  stay home, kids!   Don't be dumb bunnies !  Never leave , never have fun , and the world won't kick you in the

Red's Tales: Ramaga's Wrath PT 3

Red engages in a sniper duel with Khuun the marksman, but Ramaga and his allies spring their final attack. Is even Red tough enough to get away? Also damn that song is annoying isn't it?

A Startling Star Story

Image
The prisoner stood manacled in the main room of the Hall of Justice.  The serene marble surroundings were in contrast to the ragged, torn appearance of the chained rabbit, who stood trim, erect, and and with his gold and silver fur just that bit matted.  He wore a faded black uniform indicating field grade rank, but patches of darker material stood out where emblems and badges had been cut away.  Heavily armed guards stood on each side of the accused, and the room was crowded with witnesses and reporters, an anomaly for this type of proceeding.  A curiosity of this trial is that the guilt of the defendant has been established beyond any doubt.  This is not a legal thriller, there are no brilliant defense attorneys or last second plot twists here.  There is no one speaking for the accused at all, even if one could be found to take the case his crime is known to the entire world, this is a military court martial, and the defendant has waived all rights to counsel anyway.
