This is one tough lion.  Flamma will never walk right again, and Ferro might lose his right arm.  But the lion is as good as dead, poor thing.  He is a slave also and a very peaceful person.  New Rome is a horrible society.  It is a crime against nature that one of these rabbits is a bloodthirsty nutjob who is completely self absorbed and concerned only for the intense sexual thrill he gets from killing.  
Maybe all that limping will teach him some humility, but I very much doubt it.
