Two Different Dragons

I'm not sure if these dragons are considered "anthro" or "furry"(although they both have a little fur)-but they are both intelligent creatures!

Haku from Spirited Away-

He is an eastern dragon with a wolf-like head and white fur/scales and green mane. He can transform into a human boy when he chooses-plus he is also a river spirit/guardian. He never speaks in his dragon form but he is a very intelligent creature. If you have not seen this classic Studio Ghibli movie, please do so!

Falkor the luck dragon is from the 1984 movie The Neverending Story. In the original book illustrations, he had the look of a Eastern dragon with a lion's head. In the movie,he had the long body of an Eastern dragon but with a dog-like face. Either way,he is a positive creature who encourages the hero Atreyeu throughout the film.

"Believe and good luck will find you"

  1. 'Anthro' means acting like a human. So if something talks, or wears clothes, or reasons then it is anthro. The Brave Little Toaster is anthro. Falkor would be furry and athropomorphic, a traditional dragon is a reptile so that would come under 'scalie', and anthro if he talks or anything like that. Using dragons as a metaphor for the all consuming power of greed is anthro by definition, animals don't care about gold. Smaug is smarter than everyone around him, but his rapacious greed and cruelty is self defeating and leads him to his death through mindless rage. Also dragons will kill other dragons, they have no empathy. That's European dragons, I have no idea about Chinese dragons. The words 'red' and 'gold' and 'firecrackers' come to mind but other than that Chinese dragons are a mystery, and probably best left alone.

  2. There is a difference in personalities between the two.The European dragons are usually bad tempered and need wings to fly. Also they are more reptile-like in appearance. Eastern dragons can be fierce, but are usually protectors and symbols of good luck. They are more slender and I assume use magic to fly as most (Like Haku and Falkor) are wingless.
