I think I have posted a few of these pictures before. I made them into a sparkly gif that shows a timeline of fashion from the early 1900's until the 1980's.

In 1947 war orphans were everywhere in Japan. I guess at this time so many Japanese families had their fathers and sons gone that this cartoon designed to comfort and to empathize with those bereft.
