Disney's America Sings

This is a attraction at Disney World that is sadly no longer there. I never got to see it myself but it featured animatronic animals that related the history of American music.

It starts out from the early days of America up to the early 1970's-pretty much a big era of music to fit into a 20 minute show! The concept art -mostly by the great Disney artist Marc Davis-is fantastic~

Love this one!~

It's too bad Disney didn't turn this into a animated film~it would have been great!

  1. I've never heard of this, but I've never been to Disneyland. Marc Davis is just too much! Sure enough, most of the characters were modeled on Chanticleer, never made, which was a Marc Davis thing. All of the 'Nine Old Men' were awesome artists.
Burl Ives as the bald eagle. Nice.

    1. Sadly I never got to see this. There are videos on YouTube but the picture quality is poor

    2. A girl got crushed to death at that attraction, the audience revolved around several stages. That may have been a factor in shutting it down.

  2. Great post! I have vague memories of seeing something like this at Disneyland in California -- it was part of the "Bear Country Jamboree" or something like that. I'm not sure if it was "America Sings," but there were a lot of singing animatronic hillbilly animals and such. Seemed pretty cool at the time.
