Here I Come To Save The Day!

That's a free atom bomb.  The fifth patch up from the left hand bottom is 2cnd Division, the Indian Head outfit.  This was published in 1949, the year my uncle Richard Glen Propes joined the army and was assigned to 2cnd Division.  In 1950 they got horribly mauled at the Yalu river in the worst defeat of American arms like, ever - courtesy of a deaf, dumb and blind Douglas MacArthur.  In the first world war the Marines were attached to 2cnd Division so that's two reasons I feel connected to that unit.
Anybody else other than Dugout Doug would have noticed lots of tracks going into the cave but none coming out.
Field Marshal MacArthur was also commanding in the Philippines when he let his aircraft be destroyed on the ground 12 hours after Pearl Harbor.

Cheap bastard.  I am overcome with admiration.

Just what the average Mighty Mouse reader was looking for, plastic faux old world crap.  Paul Terry was a genius!

  1. Some of the layouts here seem pretty innovative for the time -- art looks above average too. Nice post!

  2. Thanks. This is the first time I have read about Paul Terry. It seems that he was a pioneer with the cheap animation thing. His nephew did Crusader Rabbit with Jay Ward, so it must run in the family.
