The LIttle King

Image
Taunted with effeminacy, a Greek Pankration champion*, Dioxippus, meets a Macedonian bully named Coragus in front of Alexander.  The officer shows up in full armor, sword, spear, the works.  Dioxippus arrives naked and oiled, carrying a small club.  Coragus throws the spear, the Greek ducks it, slams the loudmouth bully to the ground, and is about to beat him to death when the enraged king stopped the fight.  Later Dioxippus is crudely framed for theft, he will kill himself out of impotent fury and humiliation.  The king knew his troops were guilty of this and did nothing about it.  For all their reputation as great warriors it should be noted that Rome swept Macedonia aside and ended it's pretensions for all time. * http://ancientolympics.arts.kuleuven.be/eng/TC007cEN.html Dateline Samarkand, 328 BC.  Alexander III of Macedon is slipping into alcoholism and paranoia.  Uh, more like just paranoia, he had been a ferocious drunk s...

Wolf of the Desert!

Image
"A wolf sketch that I did about three years ago. He's not an original character of mine. I give credit to the true artist as I based my drawing from her/his original artwork. Unfortunately I can't recall the artists name."   --KosmoKoyote Here is KosmoKoyote's Wolf of the Desert , depicting a tribal anthro rendered in a realistic semi-feral style.  This Wolf is notably different from Kosmo's usual approach, which combines the proportions and exaggerated expressions of classic 'toons with highly finished human anatomy.  Here, however, the artist gives us a real wolf, representing it as walking upright and possessed of human intelligence.  Like the Old Masters of the past, Kosmo knows that one may obtain a new perspective on their own style by looking carefully at the work of others.   To seek inspiration in this way is a time-honored practice by which the best in art is collected, recast, and preserved as part of our cultural legacy. When we ...

Elsie at the Fair!

Image
Hey Guys!   Andrew the Bee here and I’m back with some more books to review !   Well, this isn’t exactly a book , it’s more like a comic .   OK, so there’s no superheroes and the story is kind of dull , but it’s still cool in its own way.   That’s because this comic is about Elsie the Cow and the 1964 New York World’s Fair! Elsie the Cow was the mascot of the Borden Dairy Company from her creation in 1936 to the company’s demise in the 1990s .   For much of that time, Borden was the undisputed giant of the American dairy industry.   Weirdly , Borden also became a major player in glue and plastics manufacturing.   I don’t even want to think about that ! Anyhow, Elsie was both an anthro cow and a real-live feral cow .   She was everywhere in American advertising and she made guest appearances at different venues around the country .   She had her own “show” at the New York World’s Fair of 1939 and in 1964 , t...

Sometimes I Think Only I Can See Him

Image
Billy is such an adorably cute bunny!  Now, he does have a few drawbacks, such as laziness, superstitions, sexual irregularities, uncontrolled jealousies, a predilection for drugs and alcohol, vanity, ignorance of anything that requires the slightest trace of discipline to learn, no accomplishments to speak of, delusions of adequacy, indolence beyond all belief, rages, cruelty, thoughtlessness, self love, loud and gleeful belching, compulsive whistling, a vague but discernible bad attitude, uncontrolled flatulence, a marked aversion to soap and water, talking loudly in movie theaters, ditto restaurants, often passing out on the couch with his upper plate next to the overflowing ashtray, pants and soiled underwear down around his ankles.  He snores like a freight train and the smell is awful. He steals my cigarettes and leaves stained and oily magazines lying around featuring naked bunnies holding whips.  Last Halloween a mother and her kids saw him u...

ARCR-CRic -- Elegant Anthro!

Image
A few selections from the portfolio of ARCR-CRic .  ARCR-CRic has a self-proclaimed bias toward raccoons, yet he is one of the most versatile anthro artists in the field.  His paintings and refined pencil drawings show that he is familiar with predators and prey alike.  Whether his subjects stand on two feet or walk on all fours; whether they have claws or hooves, he confers upon them a certain sensitivity that is frankly unusual in the often 'toonlike world of furry.  The following drawings, accompanied by the artist's remarks, give a good sense of his remarkable abilities. Solace "Very belated birthday gift for my friend SouthpawLynx . I wanted to finish it before the year was over. I believe the last day of the year should be used to meditate about what was done and what are the goals for the year that is just beginning, so nothing better than a lynx monk silently seeking peace and wisdom" Virtual XI "Went crazy and decided to draw some s...
